Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (6 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.The work model for the role is: onsite #LI-OnsiteThis role is contributing to the research group in Baden-Dättwil, Aargau, Switzerland. You will be mainly responsible for:• Review of academic literature on grid-forming control methods• Exploration of stability analysis techniques applicable to grid-forming control of converters• Theoretical analysis, evaluation and documentation of different control strategies• Quick prototyping of solutions through proof-of-concept implementations

Qualifications for the role

  • You are currently pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or similar field
  • You have taken courses in control systems (PID, lead/lag compensation), distributed control, and/or model predictive control
  • You possess a good working knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python
  • You are interested in the following fields: power electronics, control theory, and power system analysis
  • You are at ease communicating in English
  • Experience with simulations software, e.g., Simulink, PLECS, and good understanding of power systems are desirable
  • A strong interest in research and publishing is desirable
  • You hold a current valid VISA/work permit for Switzerland or a confirmation for a mandatory internship from your university
