Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (6 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

This role is contributing to the Materials team at the ABB corporate research center in Switzerland. In the frame of this internship you will be able to put theory into practice by contributing to one of our projects on future energy technologies.
You will be mainly responsible for:
• Contributing to current research projects focusing on innovative metal, ceramic- and polymer-based materials and manufacturing processes
• Analyzing the produced materials or engineering prototypes with various characterization techniques to obtain a good understanding of the relationship between process parameters, microstructure, and material characteristics
• Evaluating and documenting findings and present test results to the team

Qualifications for the role
- You currently pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science or Engineering
- You are absorbed in materials characterization tools and the electrical components market and possess first experience in additive manufacturing
- You are highly adept in CAD modelling and programming languages like python
- You are captivated by data analysis and presentations
- You are at ease communicating in English, German is an asset
- Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
